Armstrong World Industries Selected by GSA and DOE for Green Proving Ground Program
Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI) has been selected by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to evaluate the effectiveness of phase change material ceiling tile technology through TEMPLOK Energy Saving Ceilings in increasing resilience in buildings.
AWI’s TEMPLOK Energy Saving Ceilings use phase change materials to absorb and release heat, reducing and shifting building energy consumption by passively moderating thermal loads. This innovative solution supports decarbonization goals by enhancing thermal energy management with easily retrofittable thermal mass as suspended ceiling tiles.
“The Green Proving Ground (GPG) program installs emerging technologies from the private sector into our federal buildings, evaluates their effectiveness and publishes information about these technologies for public and private sector use. Since GSA manages a nationwide federally owned real estate portfolio of approximately 187 million square feet, we have a responsibility to lead by example,” said Jetta Wong, GSA's Senior Advisor to the Administrator for Climate and Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy.
